And believe it or not, I’m not a writing robot. I’m a social introvert, bookworm, and lover of all things cuddly.
And most importantly, I’m a dedicated word wrangler with a passion for the English language. I started my journey towards being a copywriter at the age of 8, when I presented my parents with my first ‘book’, made from folded A4 pages I had stapled together. Fast forward 10 years, and I decided that writing was the thing for me, so I spent 4 years getting 2 degrees in the subject. Between my undergrad (English and Creative Writing) and my Masters (Writing for Children), I learnt a lot about the psychology that goes into the words we choose, and how you can use that to create compelling copy for any business. It also made me realise;
"Writing is a lot like singing. Everyone can do it, but not everyone can do it well."
So I got to thinking, how can I do what I love, and make a difference to people, while still making a living. And it hit me – copywriting! Fast forward another year or so, and Vivid Copy was born. My days are filled with crafting blog posts and web copy for businesses who want to stand out online, chatting to happy customers on behalf of my clients, and wrangling 3 cats and a very squirmy baby. When I’m not writing, you’ll find me with a book in my hand or playing in my ears. Words really are my life, and I love the fact that I can bring that joy to other business owners.
View My ServicesI think you can learn a lot about a person based on their core values. So I wanted to share mine with you.
‘You are you, and that’s truer than true. There is no one alive that is youer than you.’ – Dr Seuss. I believe you should never be less than your own unique self, and it’s my job to help you express it.
No one likes dull, drab and boring – especially me. The freedom to create anything is truly my why, and creative thinking is what gets me excited.
For myself and others, always.
When I’m not sitting at my desk writing blogs for clients, I can usually be found in with my nose in a book or a controller in my hand. I am, and always have been, a nerd – so much so that as a child being sent to my room wasn’t a punishment, just an excuse to read more. I think that’s what attracted me to writing in the first place – I’ve always wanted to learn more, explore different ways of looking at things, and bring that joy to other people. Plus, being a fountain of (somewhat random) information makes me very good in pub quizzes.
I also spend a lot of time in the world of children. I run a brownie unit full of lively 7-10 year old girls, my favourite books almost all fall into the Young Adult category, and I recently had my own bouncing baby boy, who takes up a lot of time! And all of that whimsy and energy always finds its way back into my work.
