Create an Effective Email Newsletter Campaign

3 Ways To Grow Your Email Newsletter, Faster!

Newsletters and email campaigns are a great way of getting your messages, news and offers across to existing and potential customers, and they have skyrocketed in popularity over the last year or so. And no wonder – newsletters outperform new marketing techniques like social media marketing head over heels – but it’s not enough just to have a newsletter. In order to grow your mailing list and expand your reach, you need an outstanding newsletter. So if your subscription rates are stagnating, or you’re seeing more unsubscribes than click throughs, read on and find out how you can grow your mailing list in 3 simple ways!

1. Your Email Newsletter Campaign Needs to Have Kick Ass Content

I know it sounds cliché, but having really good, interesting and shareable content really is the best way to grow your mailing list. You need your content to be so great that they forward it on, and share it with their colleagues, friends and family who aren’t already on your list. There are loads of ways you can create top notch content that will actually be interesting to your readers – and don’t forget, at the end of each inbox is a real live person who wants to hear what you have to say!

2. Utilise Social Media to grow your email newsletter list

While it may be true that newsletters actually outperform social media in terms of getting an audience to read something and take action (like attending your event, purchasing a product or even just clicking through to your website), there is no reason that social media can’t be a part of growing your mailing list. Engage your readers on multiple levels – link to your online newsletters and content on twitter, send out sign up details and ‘did you miss our newsletter’ messages on your social media platforms.

3. Listen To Your Subscribers

The fundamental error a lot of people make is assuming that newsletters are a one way street. To generate more interest and keep your mailing list from hitting the ‘unsubscribe’ button, you need to make your newsletter a two way street instead. Stop taking AT your subscribers and start talking WITH them. Start by adding a line at the bottom of every newsletter inviting the reader to comment, like ‘if you want to say hi, or tell me something you liked/hated about my newsletter, just hit reply!’ You may find that readers find your content interesting, but the appearance of your newsletter a bit off-putting. Or they would prefer to receive it on a different day or a different time. If you listen to what your readers want and make the appropriate changes, you’ll soon find more sharing and subscribing happening.
